Police have activated the Washington State Amber Alert system to enlist the public’s help to find Aaron Lopez, an abducted 23-month old child. At about 5:40 p.m., Seattle Police were called to the 3000 block of S Chicago Street to investigate the abduction.

Officers spoke to Aaron Lopez’s mother. She told police that Aaron’s father, Daniel Lopez-Andino, physically assaulted her, took her purse and car keys and grabbed her son. Lopez-Andino then buckled Aaron into the front passenger seat of her silver 2003 BMW 325 4-door, WA license plate 701-ZNB, and sped off. Lopez-Andino does not have custody rights to Aaron. A child safety seat was properly installed in the back seat.

Officers spotted the BMW at 39 Avenue S and S Carkeek. They tried to stop it by activating their lights and sirens. Lopez-Andino ignored them and sped off recklessly.

Based on the earlier report, officers knew that Aaron was not properly secured in his child safety seat. Police discontinued their pursuit out of concern that Lopez-Andino’s reckless driving would cause a collision. Officers saw the BMW last at Boeing Access Road and West Marginal Way.

Daniel Lopez-Andino is 24 years old.  He is 5’7, 150 pounds, and was last seen wearing a black beanie, a black jacket, a white shirt, dark blue jeans and black shoes.

Aaron Lopez was last seen wearing a gray coat, gray sweats and white shoes.

Seattle Police are working with local and federal partners to expedite Aaron’s safe return.

If you have information about this case or see the BMW, please call 911 immediately.
