Two Arrested, Gun Recovered, Following Early Morning Disturbance in Belltown

Two men are in jail, and a Glock 9mm handgun is now in evidence following an early morning disturbance in Belltown.

At around 1:30 this morning, an officer was flagged down by security from one of the clubs in the 2200 Block of 1st Avenue.  The victim stated that he had just been threatened by an individual with a gun inside the club.  According to security, the suspect displayed the semi-auto Glock, racked a round into the chamber, and threatened to shoot him. The suspect also struck an employee in the face with the gun.  The suspect was accompanied by another man, who was attempting to run interference for his friend and get him out of there.  Additional threats were made to shoot and the two men left.

Security provided the description of the man with the gun, and an officer located a suspect matching that description about a block away.  Officers attempted to contact the man, but he ignored the officers.  He was detained, handcuffed, and search.  While that was happening, his friend came to the scene and began confronting officers and making threats.  Officers then turned their attention to him, and discovered he was now in possession of the Glock.

While officers were dealing with the two suspects and recovering the loaded handgun, a hostile crowd gathered, surrounding the officers.  The officers were able to safely arrest the two suspects and recover the gun.  The crowd broke up, and the suspects were transported to the West Precinct.

The two suspects were later booked into the King County Jail for felony harassment, assault, and obstructing.
