Suspected Robber Wounded In New Holly Shooting

A 19-year-old man was wounded by gunfire Thursday afternoon after he reportedly tried to rob another man in the New Holly neighborhood.

Police received reports of gunfire just after 1:30 PM at Martin Luther King Jr Way South and S Othello St, where officers found a 19-year-old man with gunshot wounds to the thigh and calf, and a broken arm.

Witnesses told officers the 19-year-old  had attempted to rob another man outside of a nearby store. The target of the robbery drew a gun and and opened fire on the 19-year-old.

Medics transported the 19-year-old to Harborview Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Witnesses quickly provided police with photos and video of an SUV which fled the scene after the shooting. Officers stopped the vehicle a few blocks away, and are still searching for a gold sedan seen fleeing the area.

Detectives are still gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses, and we will update the details of this incident as the case develops.
