Officers arrested two people after they fired a gun in a South Beacon Hill park.
Witnesses began calling 911 at 10:30 Friday night to report shots fired at Van Asselt Playfield. Officers quickly arrived and stopped multiple cars attempting to leave the park. An officer approached the 18-year-old driver of a tan Chevy Impala and spotted a handgun on the floor between the driver and his 16-year-old passenger. Officers took the driver and passenger into custody after they found multiple shell casings in the park. Officers booked the driver into King County Jail for a firearms charge while the 16-year-old was booked into the King County Youth Services Center for an outstanding warrant. Officers also impounded the teen’s car.
