A 35-year-old man was shot in the leg early Wednesday in Pioneer Square after he refused to share his marijuana with another man on the street.
The victim was standing on the sidewalk at 2nd Avenue and Yesler Way smoking marijuana when another man approached him. The suspect—described as 21-year-old black male wearing all black—asked to share the marijuana, but the victim declined. The suspect reportedly became angry, pulled out a gun and shot the victim once in the leg before fleeing.
Officer Christopher Shier found the victim lying on the ground in a a large pool of blood and called for medics, who transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition. Other officers were able to find one shell casing and spoke to witnesses who said the suspect had fled toward S. Washington St. Officers canvased the area, but didn’t find anyone matching the description given by the victim.
