A 19-year old man is in custody after he shot his brother inside a West Seattle apartment just before midnight last night.
Just before midnight, officers responded to a call of a shooting inside an apartment in the 4800 Block of California Avenue SW. Officers arrived and contacted the male victim in the hallway. He had been shot in the chest. Officers were able to safely get him to medics, who transported him to Harborview Medical Center. Before he was transported, the victim told officers that his 19-year-old brother had shot him. As officers were containing the building, the suspect came out of the apartment and was taken into custody without incident.
Officers searched the apartment and later recovered a loaded handgun and shell casing. The suspect was booked into the King County Jail. Detectives will handle the follow up investigation.
