Cops Arrest Three, Seize Gun For Capitol Hill Fight

Officers arrested three men and seized a handgun after a fight at bar closing early Sunday on Capitol Hill.

Police received a report of an assault around 2 AM Sunday in the 1400 block of 10th Avenue, where they found a bloodied man on the ground and three suspects attempting to climb into a car parked nearby.

When officers tried to contact the trio of suspects, the three men took off running. Police caught up to two of the suspects–two men, 21 and 29 years old–at 12th and Madison, and arrested a third 30-year-old man at Broadway and Seneca St..

During a pat down of the 30-year-old suspect, Officer Nic Abts-Olsen felt something very gun-like in the man’s pocket. First, the suspect–who had spots of blood on his clothing–claimed officers had simply felt his wallet. When they removed a handgun from the man’s pants, he claimed it wasn’t his firearm.

The bloodied victim in the incident wouldn’t provide officers with much information about the fight, but a witness–Seattle’s (in)famous masked adventurer, Phoenix Jones–told police he had seen the suspects pistol-whip and kick the victim after knocking him to the ground.

The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers booked the 21 and 29 year-old suspects into the King County Jail for assault. The 30-year-old man, who is a convicted felon, was booked for assault and unlawful possession of a firearm. Police also impounded their vehicle for further investigation.
