Police Arrest Strong-Arm Robbery Suspect in Central District

Police arrested a suspect in a strong-arm robbery in the Central District Friday night.

Officers responded to the bus stop in the 1400 block of 23 Ave S just before 8 PM. The victim told officers that a man asked to borrow his cell phone. He obliged but when he asked for it back, the suspect punched him in the face and ran off.

Officer Nic Abts-Olsen spotted the suspect walking nearby trying to avoid being seen. The officer detained him and the suspect admitted to robbing the victim and showed officers where he had hidden the stolen cell phone in some bushes.

The victim’s cell phone was returned to him. The victim suffered minor injuries to his face.

The 23-year-old suspect was arrested and booked into King County Jail for robbery.
