Officers Arrest Two Teens For Robbery In Capitol Hill Park

Officers arrested two juveniles for a Capitol Hill robbery Friday night after they assaulted a man and took his phone.

The victim was walking through Cal Anderson Park Friday at 8:30 PM with two friends when they were approached by a group of four juveniles.  One of the boys in the second group asked the victim if he could use his phone.  The victim refused and was then struck in the head by an unknown object causing a laceration to the victim’s head.

The suspect continued to attack the victim while one of the other boys held the victim’s friends at knife point.  The suspect eventually took the victim’s phone and the group ran from the park.

East precinct officers Anthony Ducre and Brian Sunderland had been walking through the park earlier and recognized the descriptions of the suspects given by the victims.  They searched the area and found two of the suspects six hours later just blocks from the scene of the robbery.  Officers searched the teens and discovered one of them still had the victim’s phone in his pocket.

Officers picked up the victim, who had just been discharged from Harborview Medical Center, and brought them to the arrest scene to verify they had stopped the proper individuals.   The victim agreed, and officers booked the two suspects into the Youth Services Center for investigation of robbery.
