Two teens were arrested with handguns after fleeing from an attempted burglary Friday afternoon in Rainier Valley.
Officers responded to the 4400 block of S Othello St at 1PM on Friday after a neighbor reported four teenagers had just broken a window of a house. The neighbor scared the suspects off and provided police with good descriptions.
Police located two subjects matching the given descriptions a few blocks away and attempted to contact them.
A 17-year-old suspect was detained and officers found a handgun in his waistband with an extended magazine carrying 30 rounds of ammunition. The gun was reported stolen in Pierce County in June 2015.
The other suspect took off running with officers in pursuit. During the chase, the 15-year-old suspect removed a handgun from his waistband and threw it. Police eventually caught up to him in a backyard and placed him into custody. The handgun was later recovered.
The 17-year-old suspect was booked into the Youth Service Center for burglary, possession of stolen property, and a firearms violation. The 15-year-old suspect was booked into the Youth Service Center for burglary and a firearms violation.
