During her trip to Washington D.C. to attend the State of the Union, Chief Kathleen O’Toole met personally with Attorney General Loretta Lynch, President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama to discuss police reform in Seattle.
The acknowledgment by the President and recognition today by the Department of Justice is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the men and women of the SPD and the Seattle community.
While SPD has moved forward with implementing many of the provisions of the Consent Decree, there is still much work to do. We will work tirelessly with our Federal partners and the Monitoring Team to enhance public trust and continue to be the national model for reform.
