Three Arrested For Fatal Shooting In Beacon Hill Greenbelt

Update 2/1/2016:

7:30 PM: Police arrested the three teens shortly after 4 PM today near 4th Avenue S. and Royal Brougham Way, following a relentless investigation by SPD Homicide Detectives Paul Takemoto and James Cooper.

In connection today’s arrests, members of SPD Homicide, SWAT, Robbery and Gang Units served warrants on multiple vehicles and locations for other evidence. Police recovered one gun during the investigation, and are working with the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms to test it for ballistic evidence.

Detectives are currently interviewing the three suspects and will book them into the Youth Service Center for investigation of homicide.

5:45 PM: Police have arrested three teenagers–13, 16 and 17 years-old–in connection with last week’s fatal shooting at a homeless encampment in the Beacon Hill greenbelt.

We’ll update this post with additional details as they become available.

Detectives continue to investigate tonight’s shooting and believe the five victims were specifically targeted.

Two men One man and one woman were killed in the incident and one woman remains in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center. One man and a woman are also in serious condition.

Two people were killed and three others were wounded Tuesday evening following a shooting in a wooded area east of Airport Way and S Atlantic Street.

Around 7:15 PM, police received reports of gunfire near the 1500 block Airport Way South.

Officers began searching a greenbelt in the area–sometimes colloquially referred to as “The Jungle”–and found the five victims.

Police are actively searching the woods for the suspect or suspects and piecing together information about the incident.
