A man suspected in a series of armed robberies at Rainier Beach businesses turned himself in Tuesday after learning SPD detectives were looking for him.
The 36-year-old man is believed to have flashed a gun and demanded cash at a Subway sandwich shop during his first robbery in Rainier Beach on February 24th. Several weeks later, on March 9th, he returned to the same neighborhood, where he held up a Payless shoe. He returned to Rainier Beach once more on March 15th to rob a KFC/Taco Bell restaurant.
Officers conducted widespread searches following all three incidents, and although police were initially unable to locate the man, police were able to identify him.
SPD Robbery Unit detectives began calling around to his friends and family members to locate him. After word got out that police were after him, the man turned himself in Tuesday at the King County Jail and was booked for investigation of robbery.
