Gunshot Victim Found Blocks Away Following Early Morning Disturbance

Police are investigating the circumstances that led to a 25-year-old man being shot in the arm and back after an early morning disturbance near the Jackson Street overpass.  The man’s injuries are not life-threatening.

Officers responded to two separate 911 calls of a disturbance involving men fighting in the area of 10th and South Jackson and 12th and South Jackson around 6:40 am.  One of the callers indicated that a white Suburban had fled the scene.  Officers located the Suburban at 10th and S. King and interviewed the driver.  He stated that he witnessed the disturbance, attempted to break it up, and then left when the fighting parties left.  The driver was identified and released.

Shortly after the driver was released, another 911 call reported a man down in the 500 block of Dearborn.  The victim had been shot in the arm and back (non-life-threatening) and was treated by Seattle Fire.  He was later transported to Harborview Medical Center.  People at that location told officers that they believed the man had been shot near the Jackson Street overpass.  Officers located several shell casings on Jackson Street.  Officers continue to investigate.
