Three Firearms Calls Overnight End With Two Guns Recovered

Three separate gun-related incidents overnight lead to two arrests and property damage.

Witnesses called 911 at 8:45 PM Saturday night when they saw a man displaying a handgun in Judkins Park.

Officers arriving in the area reported hearing multiple gunshots and seeing a white Lexus with no plates speeding away.  Officers pursued the vehicle until it crashed into a fence at 14 Ave S. and S. State St.

The driver attempted to flee the scene on foot, but was quickly caught by a K-9 unit. Officers searched the suspect and found a handgun.  Officers booked the suspect into King County Jail.

In a second incident, officers were conducting a traffic stop at 9:30 PM on a white Chevy Tahoe in South Seattle. Officers, while speaking with the driver, saw a handgun with an extended magazine in the seat pocket behind the driver.

The 27-year-old identified himself under a false name, but officers quickly discovered his true identity and that he is a convicted felon.  Officers placed the man under arrest and checked the gun only to find that it was stolen.

Officers booked the suspect into King County Jail for firearms violations, possession of a stolen firearm and drug charges.

In a third call a man called 911 reporting that his home in the 4200 block of S Othello St. had been damaged by fireworks.

Officers arrived and determined the damage had been caused by a bullet and not fireworks.  Officers searched the area and found seven 9mm and fifteen 7.62mm shell casings at 44 Ave S and S Webster St.  Officers conducted a closer inspection of the area and found no further property damage and there were no other 911 calls.

Gang unit detectives are investigating.
