Police were called to 10th Avenue and East John Street shortly after 9:30 after receiving reports a man had been shot in the shoulder.
The suspect fled and was arrested a short time later in a coffee shop near Broadway and East Republican Street.
Police found a holster, but not a firearm, in the coffee shop. After interviewing the suspect, officers were able to locate and recover the firearm near the scene of the shooting.

The suspect is being transported to Seattle Police Department headquarters, where he will be interviewed by detectives. Officers are still searching several locations on Capitol Hill for evidence.
