A burglary suspect is in custody thanks to an alert neighbor.
A witness called 911 stating that a man had broken into the school across the street at about 3:15 this morning. Officers responded to the 2100 Block of South Jackson Street and found a broken glass door. A K9 team responded to the scene. Officers saw the suspect inside the building attempting to leave, but when he saw the officers outside he ducked back inside. The suspect came out of the building soon after the K9 officer announced his presence. The 44-year-old suspect was taken into custody.
Detectives from the Major Crimes Task Force responded to the East Precinct and assisted with the investigation. The suspect was later booked into the King County Jail. Detectives will continue to handle this investigation.
