Man Recognized From Earlier Auto Theft Arrested For Auto Theft

Officers arrested a car thief in a North Seattle neighborhood Sunday after neighbors spotted him trying to start a truck with a screwdriver.

Just before 6 pm, police received a 911 report of a possible car theft in the 8200 block of 20th Avenue Northeast.  Officers arrived in two minutes and approached the truck, leading the 35-year-old suspect to walk out from behind the vehicle and surrender to police. One officer immediately recognized the suspect, who had been a passenger in a stolen car police had stopped one day earlier.

Officers arrested the suspect and booked him into King County Jail for Investigation of auto theft.
