One Suspect in Custody Following Collision, Car-Jacking in South Seattle

Officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding a collision and car-jacking that occurred on the Swift Avenue South off-ramp Saturday afternoon.  One suspect is in custody and detectives are conducting the follow up investigation.

Just before 3:00 pm, officers responded to a report of a car-jacking at gunpoint involving a black Town Car on the off-ramp.  The suspect, an adult male, had crashed his own vehicle into the guard rail on the exit and then pointed a gun at the adult male driver of the Town Car, demanding that the victim drive him away from the scene.  The victim complied, and a witness was able to provide 911 operators with updated information on where the Town Car was travelling.  Officers were able to stop the Town Car at Beacon Avenue South and South Graham.  The suspect fled the car and attempted to flee on foot, but was caught by officers nearby and taken into custody.  The driver of the Town Car was uninjured.

A gun was recovered from the victim’s car, and the suspect’s car on Swift was impounded.  The suspect will be booked into the King County Jail for investigation of car-jacking and multiple felony warrants.  Detectives will be responsible for the follow up investigation.  This remains an active and on-going investigation.
