Fatality Collision Investigation in South Seattle

Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) are investigating the circumstances surrounding a single vehicle/utility pole fatality collision that occurred just before midnight on Martin Luther King Jr. Way South.

At approximately 11:50 pm on Monday night officers responded to the 9200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South (MLK and Beacon Avenue South) for a report of a serious collision.  An Acura Integra, driven by an adult male in his twenties, appeared to have left the roadway while travelling at a high rate of speed northbound and struck a pole.  The impact of the collision sheared the car in half.  The driver was declared dead at the scene.

TCIS detectives responded and began their investigation.  The collision damaged the pole such that it needs to be replaced.  Seattle City Light will be repairing/replacing the damaged pole.  Northbound MLK remains closed while that work is being completed.

TCIS detectives continue to investigate.  Anyone who may have witnessed the collision are asked to contact TCIS detectives at (206) 684-8923.
