Police arrested a 28-year-old man Saturday after he drove a stolen truck full of lawn furniture and beer to the Green Lake neighborhood and broke into a taco shop.
A restaurant manager called 911 at 7:40 am and reported that he had found a man inside the business when he arrived at work for the day. Officers responded to the restaurant, in the 6800 block of Green Lake Way North, and spoke to the manager, who pointed out the suspect, who had moved on to a nearby coffee shop.
When officers arrested the 28-year-old suspect, he didn’t even try to talk-o his way out of the situation. “I remember being in there, looking at some chips, and thinking I’d eat some,” he told police.
Officers also found a stolen truck, loaded with beer and lawn furniture, parked behind the restaurant and connected it to the burglar after they found his cellphone inside the vehicle.
As police were preparing to take the man to jail, an officer spotted the same 28-year-old man on TV. As it turned out, the man had been caught on surveillance cameras while breaking into a North Seattle home, and the footage was featured in a KIRO TV news story.
Police booked the suspect into jail and detectives are now working to return the stolen items found in the man’s truck.
