An adult male is in custody and Gang Unit detectives are investigating after a man received a non life-threatening gunshot injury to his arm Saturday night.
The adult male victim was walking southbound in the 1500 block of 3rd Avenue when the suspect began running northbound in front of him firing a handgun. The victim tried to get out of the way, but was struck in the arm. It appeared that the suspect was firing his gun at a moving vehicle travelling northbound on 3rd Avenue.
Officers working downtown heard shots fired and saw the suspect running. Officers chased the suspect on foot and took him into custody. Officers located the victim near 3rd and Pine and Seattle Fire responded to treat his injury and transport him to the hospital. The suspect tossed the gun he used as he was running but it was recovered by officers.
Detectives from the Gang Unit were in the area and took the suspect into custody. During the on scene investigation, the suspect experienced a medical issue and was transported to the hospital for treatment. The suspect will be booked into the King County Jail once he has been released from the hospital. This remains an active and ongoing Gang Unit investigation.
