Suspect Found inside Stolen Car with Stolen Property in West Seattle

Police  arrested a suspect in West Seattle Sunday morning after he was located inside a stolen car.  The suspect was also in possession of other unreported stolen items.

On Sunday, April 2nd, at about 7:00 am, officers responded to a report of an auto theft in the 3500 block of SW Trenton Street.  The victim reported that he had parked his 2016 Nissan in front of his home the night before and discovered it missing Sunday morning.  Officers took a stolen vehicle report.

About two hours later the victim reported that the “Nissan Connect” tracking device indicated that his car was located in the 4700 block of SW Dakota Street.  Officers responded to that location and found a 43-year-old man inside the vehicle, asleep and apparently under the influence of an unknown substance.  The vehicle was parked, the engine was running, and it appeared that the vehicle was full of unreported stolen items (clothing, power tools, air compressor, etc.).  Officers took the suspect into custody without incident.

The Nissan owner responded to the scene and retrieved his vehicle after the other items were removed and placed into evidence.  A detective from the Major Crimes Task Force responded to the scene as well to interview the suspect.   After being evaluated at the scene by Seattle Fire, the suspect was booked into the King County Jail for auto theft.

Detectives will handle the follow up investigation.
