Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision that occurred early Friday morning on 1st Avenue South.
At approximately 5:30 am, a 44-year-old male riding a motorcycle was travelling bound on 1st Avenue South. The rider collided with a Honda Accord at 1st Avenue South and South Fidalgo Street. The rider was ejected from the motorcycle. The driver was deceased at the scene. There were no injuries to the driver of the Honda.
The 29-year-old male driver of the Honda was evaluated at the scene by an officer for any sign of impairment, which is standard protocol. There were no signs of impairment detected.
1st Avenue South was shut down in both directions as TCIS conducted their investigation. The street remains closed but should reopen shortly.
