Investigating Possible DUI, Officers Discover Man Holding Lots of Cocaine

Officers investigating a possible DUI early Tuesday morning discovered that the suspect was in possession of a large quantity of cocaine. He was arrested and booked into jail.

On 6:30 am Tuesday officers responded to a report of a man passed out behind the wheel of a car near Harvard Avenue East and Franklin Avenue East. The call stated that a man was passed out behind the wheel of a still running car in the middle of the street.   After waking the 29-year-old man up, the officers had the man step out of his car.  While the suspect was pulling his identification from his pocket, officers noticed a small bag of suspected cocaine.  The suspect was placed under arrest and officers discovered additional baggies of cocaine in the suspect’s pockets.   The suspected drugs were tested and tested positive for the presence of cocaine. A total of 90.8 grams of cocaine were recovered from the suspect.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Task Force responded to the scene to assist with the interview of the suspect and search warrant for the suspect’s car.  The car was impounded pending the search warrant, and the suspect was later booked into the King County Jail.  Major Crimes detectives will continue to handle the follow-up investigation.
