Impaired Driver Flees, Arrested After Collision Injures Passenger

An adult male was arrested early this morning after he fled from a collision, leaving his injured passenger behind.  The adult male passenger was transported by Seattle Fire medics  to Harborview Medical Center with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

On Saturday September 2,  at approximately 3:40 am, a  Chevy Astro van was travelling northbound in the 100 block  of  Martin Luther King Jr. Way East when it failed to maintain its lane of travel, jumped the curb and struck a tree on the east side of the planting strip. The driver got out of  the vehicle and left the scene on foot, leaving his injured passenger trapped in the vehicle. Officers were able to locate and place the adult male driver under arrest a short distance way. The driver displayed signs of impairment.  He is  expected to be booked for Investigation Of Vehicular Assault.

This remains an active and on-going investigation.
