Detectives are investigating after a man wearing a swastika armband was punched Downtown are requesting additional statements from all involved parties.
Around 4pm Sunday, SPD received reports of a man wearing a swastika armband instigating fights at 3rd Avenue and Pine Street.
Police were on scene within five minutes and found him on the ground. The man acknowledged he had been struck. Officers provided the man an opportunity for medical aid and to report any possible crimes, both of which he refused, exercising his constitutionally protected right to not participate in the investigative process. The man left after removing his armband.
No witnesses contacted officers at the scene to make a report about the incident.
Officers documented the incident which remains an active investigation. Detectives are asking that if the victim or any witnesses have additional evidence to please contact police.
