Man Arrested After Breaking into Capitol Hill Condo

A 36-year-old man was arrested early Saturday morning after a witness called 911 and reported seeing him prying his way into a secure condominium in the 500 block of Belmont Avenue East.

At approximately 6:30 am, called 911 and reported the man was breaking through a door of the condo building.  Officers arrived, contained the building, and then began searching the interior.  Officers quickly found evidence of a burglary, as there were several packages that had been opened in the common mail room.  Officers found the suspect hiding in a small room on the 5th floor of the building.  The suspect had stolen items in his possession and was taken into custody.  He was later booked into the King County Jail for investigation of burglary.  Detectives will handle the follow up investigation.
