Officers arrested two men, ages 24 and 30, Thursday afternoon in Cal Anderson Park after dispute over details of an upcoming wedding escalated into a robbery.
Around 4:40 pm, officers met with the victim and his friend a few blocks from the park. The victim reported that they were at Cal Anderson approximately ten minutes earlier with the suspects, who they know. The victim and one of the suspects got into an argument about an upcoming wedding, which escalated until the 24-year-old suspect struck the victim in the head, knocking him to the ground. The 30-year-old suspect then took the victim’s cell phone when it fell out of his pocket. The suspects then left the park.
Responding officers located the two suspects several blocks away and detained them. The victim and witness both positively identified the suspects. The suspects were arrested and later booked into jail for robbery. The victim’s phone was not located.
The suspects were booked into jail and detectives will conduct the follow up investigation.
