Detectives arrested a robbery suspect and served a search warrant on his downtown residence today following a robbery that occurred last month.
On October 17th at approximately 10:30 pm, a 28-year-old year woman was walking on Dexter Avenue North when she was approached from behind by an unidentified suspect. The suspect punched the victim in the back of the head, knocking her to the ground. While on the ground, the suspect ripped the victim’s purse from her arm and fled on foot. A witness heard the victim scream and went to assist. The witness later told officers that he believed he saw the suspect run between buildings on Dexter Avenue North.
The case was assigned to a robbery detective, who was able to identify a suspect. The suspect was arrested today and numerous items of evidence, including items taken during the purse snatch, were seized. This remains an active and on-going robbery investigation.
