Shooting Investigation at 1st and Cherry

A 19-year-old man is recovering at the hospital following a shooting near Pioneer Square Sunday evening.

Just before 7:00 pm 911 received multiple calls of shots fired near the 100 block of Cherry Street.  Witnesses described two males running from the scene into a parking garage in the 100 block of James Street.  Officers responded to the scene and located the two men inside the parking garage.  One of the men had two gunshot wounds to his abdomen.  Officers provided first aid until Seattle Fire medics arrived and took over medical care. Medics immediately transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center.  The victim was stabilized at the hospital and is now recovering.  The other man was interviewed by officers.  He stated that the two victims were walking near 1st and Cherry when a dark colored sedan pulled up and the occupants got out to confront them.  An argument ensued, and one of the suspects pulled a handgun and fired several shots, striking the victim.  The victims then fled on foot and ran the block to the parking garage where officers located them.

The suspects were described as two black males in their twenties, with possibly several other occupants that remained in the suspect vehicle.  The suspect vehicle was described as a dark colored Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic.

Officers located shell casings in the 100 block of Cherry Street and collected them for evidence.  Investigators will continue to follow up on this incident.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Seattle Police Department.
