Officers conducting proactive patrols in an area recently hit by burglaries discovered a burglary in progress and arrested a suspect inside a SODO business early this morning.
Shortly after 5:00 am Tuesday, Officers Ornelas and Corcoran were checking businesses in the 600 block of South Spokane Street. The officers noticed that a fence surrounding one business appeared to have recently cut, and requested additional officers to the scene. The officers observed a suspect inside the fenced area searching for something with a flashlight. When backup arrived officers entered the premise and began clearing the business. The suspect was located and taken into custody without incident.
South Precinct detectives met the officers at the precinct and interviewed the suspect. Following the interview, the 44-year-old suspect was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of burglary. Detectives will handle the follow up investigation.
