Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding a fatality bus/pedestrian collision that occurred earlier today in North Seattle.
At approximately 4:00 pm Sunday, February 18th, a Metro bus was travelling southbound on Aurora Avenue North approaching N. 130th Street. At about the same time, an adult male was walking on the sidewalk just south of 130th Street. The pedestrian stumbled and fell into the street just as the bus was pulling into the bus stop. The bus struck the pedestrian causing significant injuries. Seattle Fire Department medics responded to the scene but the victim was declared deceased at the scene. There were no other reported injuries. TCIS detectives were called out to the scene to begin the investigation.
As is routine, the driver of the bus was evaluated at the scene by a Drug Recognition Expert officer. There were no signs of impairment. Southbound Aurora Avenue North was shut down while the investigators conducted their investigation. The road has now reopened. This remains an active and on-going TCIS investigation.
