A 28-year-old man was arrested last night after it was determined he was a convicted felon in possession of a handgun.
Around 5:30 pm Wednesday a witness saw a man with a handgun in the area of 18th Avenue and East Madison. The witness thought that the man appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and called 911. Officers arrived and the witness directed them to the man, who was now sitting inside a vehicle. Officers contacted the man and observed a handgun sticking out of his pocket. The man appeared to be intoxicated. Officers detained him while they checked his name and discovered that he was a convicted felon, thereby prohibited from possessing a gun.
Officers arrested the man and recovered the handgun. The man was later booked into the King County Jail.
