Burglar Arrested After Lengthy Search in Columbia City

On Monday, February 26th, at around 11:30 am, a victim returned home to discover an unknown woman inside her residence in the 4800 block of Rainier Avenue South.  According to the victim, the suspect appeared to be high or intoxicated.  The suspect fled the residence after stealing jewelry.  Officers responded to the area and set up containment and asked for a K9 team and the King County Sheriff’s Office helicopter, Guardian One to assist in the search.

After a lengthy search lasting over an hour and half, officers located the suspect near 46th Avenue South and South Pearl Street.  The suspect had changed clothing in an attempt to disguise herself.  After a brief foot pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody.  The 24-year-old female suspect claimed to have ingested narcotics and was transported to the hospital for an evaluation.  Once she is medically cleared the suspect will be booked into the King County Jail.

South Precinct detectives will be responsible for the follow up investigation.
