Officers arrested a man and are searching for two women after they assaulted a man and stole his bicycle near the Ballard library early Wednesday morning.
A man was walking his bike through the 5700 block of 22 Avenue Northwest Wednesday just after midnight. The 43-year-old man passed a group of three people who asked him about his brown Kona 38-speed bike. The man in the group then hit the victim in the head with a pipe causing him to release the bike. The victim pepper sprayed the suspect before running to a nearby store to call 911.
Officers responded to the area and were able to locate the 29-year-old suspect and take him into custody without further incident. Officers, however, were unable to locate the man’s bicycle. Detectives are now looking for the two other people who were seen with the suspect. The victim described the other to people as a Hispanic woman, 5′ 5″, weighing 350 pounds and a Caucasian woman wearing pajamas.
Officers booked the suspect into King County Jail for investigation of robbery.
