Officers arrested three people for an assault of a 13-year-old girl in Cal Anderson Park Wednesday morning.
Two East Precinct officers on a foot beat in Cal Anderson park Wednesday at 1:30 a.m saw a group of ten people in some type of disturbance and approached the group. As the officers got close the group of people scattered leaving behind a 13-year-old girl who was bleeding from the face. One of the officers chased the group who they believed to be responsible for the injuries to the girl while the other officer remained behind to tend to the victim’s injuries.
The first officer was able to corner three of the suspects in an alley 1000 block of East Denny Way. Officers determined that the 19-year-old female suspect had participated in the assault based on the victim’s blood being found on the suspect’s clothing as well as statements made to officers.
Officers also arrested a 19-year-old man for being a felon in possession of a firearm after they discovered a loaded .38 caliber revolver in his pocket.
Finally, officers arrested the third person, an 18-year-old man, for obstructing and will work with the prosecutor’s office to determine if any other charges will be filed.
Seattle Fire Department medics transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center where she was treated for head and facial injuries.
Officers booked the three suspects into King County Jail for the assault, weapons charges, and obstruction. It appears this was a targeted assault but the motive is still under investigation.
