An 18-year-old man is in custody after police arrested him following a burglary to a residence in the North Capitol Hill neighborhood Tuesday morning.
Shortly after 6:30 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to a report of a burglary at a home in the 2200 block of Broadway East. The owners saw the suspect via a security camera inside their living room. The husband confronted the suspect who was now standing just outside the front door with some of their property. The suspect fled and the homeowner chased him for a short distance.
Officers arrived quickly and located the suspect hiding a few blocks away and took him into custody. Detectives from the Major Crimes Task Force responded to assist with the investigation. It is believed that the same suspect may be responsible for several other burglaries in the neighborhood over the past few days. Detectives interviewed the suspect and then booked him into the King County Jail for investigation of burglary and an outstanding felony warrant.
Major Crimes detectives will continue to handle the follow-up investigation.
