Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) are conducting their investigation following a fatality collision between a BNSF train and a pedestrian on the main tracks at 3rd Avenue South and South Holgate Street.
Just before midnight on Friday, April 27th, Seattle Police and Fire responded to the collision. The train was southbound between 1st Avenue South and 3rd Avenue South when it collided with a pedestrian sitting on the tracks just south of South Holgate Street. The pedestrian died at the scene. TCIS detectives responded to the scene, as did the Medical Examiner’s Office. After the initial investigation at the scene was completed, train operations were allowed to continue.
This remains an active and on-going investigation.
