Officers arrested a 19-year-old burglar after an extensive K-9 search early this morning on Beacon Hill.
At 4:30 Wednesday morning South Precinct officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress inside a residence in the 2400 block of South Columbian Way. The complainant was hiding in a closet and told 911 operators that unknown people were inside the home. Officers quickly arrived and saw two suspects running from the house toward the alley. Containment was set up and a K-9 team responded. After an extensive search, the K-9 team located a suspect hiding in the backyard of a nearby house. The suspect was taken into custody. The victim’s cell phone and a large amount of cash were located on the suspect. The other suspect observed fleeing the house was not located.
A vehicle believed to have been used by the suspect(s) was located in the alley and towed to the processing room pending a search warrant.
Detectives will conduct the follow-up investigation as this suspect is possibly connected with several other recent burglaries.
