At approximately 7:20 Thursday morning, a Metro bus was travelling southbound on Sand Point Way NE approaching NE NOAA Drive. At the same time, an adult male riding a bicycle was travelling in the same direction when the bicyclist reportedly drifted into the side of the bus, causing the cyclist to fall. The fall resulted in significant injuries to the cyclist. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center via Seattle Fire medics.
TCIS detectives responded to the scene to begin their investigation, which required a road closure. The operator of the Metro coach was evaluated at the scene for any signs of impairment. None were detected.
After completing the initial investigation at the scene, the road was reopened. This remains an active TCIS investigation.
