Officers are investigating after a man was shot in the leg following a disturbance in a tent encampment early Monday morning.
A man called 911 just after 1 a.m Monday, to report that he had just shot a man who had pointed a firearm at him. Officers arrived at Poplar Place South and South Bush Place to find the caller waiting for them. The man explained to officers that he had been searching for his girlfriend in a near-by tent encampment when he found a man who he had been in an argument with earlier in the day. The caller said the other man pulled out a gun and threatened him with it. The caller then pulled out his own gun and fired one shot, striking the victim in the leg. The shooter then exited the camp, placed his firearm in his vehicle, and called 911.
Officers found the victim inside the tent and provided first-aid to the man until Medics could take him to Harborview Medical Center for additional treatment. Officers recovered a firearm from inside the victim’s tent and one from the trunk of the shooter’s car.
Officers placed the shooter under arrest while the investigation continues. More details will be released when they become available.
