Detectives are investigating after a teen was shot while selling marijuana in the Northgate neighborhood Tuesday night.

A woman called 911 at 8 p.m. Tuesday to report her brother had been shot in the 11000 block of 8 Avenue Northeast.

Police arrived on scene and found the 17-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to the stomach. Officers performed first aid until Seattle Fire Department Medics could transport the teen to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of serious but not life-threatening injuries.  The victim was able to tell officers that the shooting occurred outside the apartment building and provided a vehicle description of a black SUV possibly driven by the suspect. The victim went on to tell officers that he believes he was targeted because he was involved in selling marijuana.

Officers from the North Precinct Anti-Crime Team and Gang Unit detectives are now investigating and are asking anyone with information to please call the tip line at 206-233-5000.
