Two suspects were arrested Saturday afternoon after officers found them in a stolen vehicle, filled with stolen items, in North Seattle.
On Saturday, officers responded to a report of several people car prowling near the Ballard Locks. Witnesses provided police with a vehicle description and license plate. The license plate came back as a stolen plate from another vehicle. Officers responded, but the suspects and vehicle had left the area.
Approximately two hours later, officers from the North Precinct Anti-Crime Team located the suspect vehicle and suspects at a Northgate gas station. The three suspects, two men and a woman, were detained and identified. Two of the suspects had outstanding warrants for their arrests involving narcotics and identity theft. The vehicle, a Cadillac Escalade, came back as a reported stolen car. Officers located numerous items taken from recent car prowls and burglaries–including stolen mail, checks, credit cards and IDs–inside the Escalade.
The two suspects with warrants were arrested. During the search of the suspects, officers also recovered 10 grams of methamphetamine and a small amount of heroin. The two adult males were later booked into the King County Jail, while the female was identified and interviewed and released from the scene. The stolen vehicle was impounded pending a warrant.
Detectives from the Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) will be responsible for the follow up investigation.
