SPD Investigating After Seattle Fire Aid Unit Stolen Early this Morning, Recovered Minutes Later

West Precinct officers responded to a report of a stolen Seattle Fire Department Aid Unit taken from the 1500 block of 3rd Avenue shortly at 2:00 this morning.  The vehicle was located, unoccupied, minutes later in Pioneer Square.

Just after 2:00 am, officers responded to 3rd and Pike to take a report of a stolen SFD Aid Unit.  The firefighters were on a call at that location at approximately 1:49 am.  They had entered a building to handle the call and came back out 15 minutes later to discover the vehicle was missing.  They immediately contacted their dispatch who in turn notified Seattle Police.

Officers located the unoccupied, running vehicle near 2nd Avenue Extension South and South Jackson Street.  It did not appear that anything had been taken from the vehicle.  Officers processed the vehicle and submitted several fingerprints located into evidence for analysis.   The vehicle was then turned back over to the firefighters.  This remains an active investigation.
