A 31-year-old suspect is in custody after officers located him near the victim’s house, riding the victim’s bicycle.
West Precinct officers responded to a report of an occupied burglary shortly after 2:00 Tuesday morning in the 3000 block of 21st Avenue West. The victim told 911 operators that an unknown male was inside his house, and had fled on the victim’s bicycle after stealing his car keys. Officers arrived quickly and set up containment in the area. An officer located the suspect a few blocks away riding the bicycle.
Officers attempted to stop the suspect but he refused. Officers were finally able to stop the suspect after he rode directly into an officer on the Dravus Street overpass and was taken into custody.
The suspect was positively identified by the victim and later booked into the King County Jail for investigation of burglary. All of the victim’s stolen property was recovered and returned.
