UPDATED: Can You Help Police ID Rainier Valley Purse Snatcher?

SPD Robbery investigators are seeking the public’s help as they seek to identify a man suspected in a series of purse snatches targeting women in the Rainier Valley.

In four robberies between April 4th and April 9th, a suspect approached women as they were getting out of their cars outside their homes and stole purses from the women before fleeing. The robberies took place at Renton Avenue South and South Webster, Rainier and South Rose Street, 50th Avenue South and South Thistle Street, and Renton Avenue South and South 112th Street. All occurred in the late evening hours, between 9:45pm and 2:30 AM.

Investigators have obtained surveillance footage of a vehicle, a silver sedan with a moon roof, believed to be connected to at least three of the robberies.

Victims have described the suspect as a black male, late teens to early 20s, approximately 5’9, with a slim build.
