Detectives are investigating after two people were injured in shootings in the East Precinct on Saturday.
In the first incident, officers were dispatched to investigate shots fired at the intersection of Melrose Avenue and East Pine Street around 1:30 AM.
Witnesses reported hearing gunshots and seeing a green Ford Crown Victoria and black Chevrolet Tahoe speeding away from the scene just before officers arrived. Officers searched the scene and found additional vehicles in a nearby parking lot that had been damaged by gunfire.
While police were still at the scene, they were notified that a 24-year-old man had walked into Harborview Medical Center with a gunshot wound. The victim had a non-life-threatening injury to the back of the head and was treated for his injury. The victim refused to cooperate with investigators.
In the second incident, witnesses called 911 around 7:45 pm Saturday to report a fight at Judkins Park. As officers were arriving on that call additional reports of shots fired at 24 Avenue and East Yesler Street began coming in. Officers quickly converged on the area and found a pool of blood but no victim.
Minutes later, a 25-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his shoulder arrived at Harborview Medical Center.
