East Precinct Officers Respond to Two Shooting Incidents Overnight

Officers from the East Precinct responded to two separate shooting incidents early Thursday morning.  In both cases the victims had non life-threatening injuries.

The first occurred just before 1:00 am near 17th Avenue East and East Mercer Street.  Officers located the scene in an alley and recovered shell casings.  The victim, an adult male, had two non life-threatening gunshot wounds and was transported to the hospital for treatment.  Officers searched the area for additional victims but did not locate any.  A K-9 unit assisted with the search.  There is no suspect description.

At 2:30 am officers responded to another report of a shooting, this time at Rainier Avenue South and South Charles Street.  The adult male victim had a non life-threatening gunshot wound to his leg.  The victim and his friend told officers they were in a vehicle when they were shot by unknown suspects.  According to the victim and his friend, the unknown suspects fled in a vehicle, possibly a black SUV.

The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment.  Officers searched the area for suspects but did not locate any.  The vehicle the victim was in was towed pending a search warrant. 

It is unknown if the two incidents are related.  Detectives will handle the follow up investigation.
