Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) are conducting the follow up investigation into a vehicle/pedestrian collision that occurred Wednesday evening at 4th Avenue and Columbia Street. The pedestrian, a 60-year-old female, was transported to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Just before 6:00 pm, a 62-year-old male driving a Ford Escape, turned from westbound Columbia Street onto northbound 4th Avenue. The female pedestrian was in the crosswalk when she was struck.
Seattle Police and Fire were both called to the scene. Seattle Fire medics transported the victim to Harborview with life-threatening injuries.
The driver remained at the scene and was evaluated by an officer for any signs of impairment. After the evaluation, it was determined that the driver was not impaired.
This remains an active and on-going TCIS investigation.
